As part of its on-going efforts to sustain a Zero Harm culture at Sohar Aluminium, the company’s Environment, Health and safety (EHS) Department conducted a Confined Space Rescue Course for eight of its staff members from 26 to 28 March 2011on its premises. The course was presented by renowned South African company - Fire and Disaster Dynamics (FDD).
Andre Rabie, EHS Manager at Sohar Aluminium supervised the course together with the FDD experts demonstrating the different ways of surviving and rescuing an injured person from contained places. Simulations of rescuing people from confined spaces were performed and also formed the largest part of the training where all members had chance to do the practical side of the rescue procedures.
Peerbakhsh Al Bulushi, EHS Superintendent at Sohar Aluminium stated that “this training course has added many benefits and identified the safety measures in the contained places and the potential hazards these places may be haunted with.”
