On 31 March 2012, Sohar Aluminium joined hands with corporations and people around the world to observe the International Earth Hour between 20:30 and 21:30.

Sohar Aluminium participated in this event by turning off lights and non-essential equipment during the Earth Hour. The combined energy saved by Sohar Aluminium during this initiative totalled 3206.3 KW. In addition to this the workforce of SA were given candles and encouraged to participate in the Earth Hour with their families by switching off all lights at home and using the candles for lighting.
