Collectively the five Aluminium primary producers Emirates Global Aluminium in UAE, Alba in Bahrain, Ma’aden

Aluminium in KSA, Qatalum in Qatar and Sohar Aluminium in Oman have produced 5,274,729 tons of primary Aluminium in 2015. 7% more than 2014.

 

 

Sohar Aluminium’s total production in 2015 was 377,186 tones.

 

 

 

“This is the highest production record in GCC reflecting continuous efficiency improvements and optimization of resource”, Said Mr. Mahmood AlDaylami, Secretary General of Gulf Aluminium Council.

 

 

 

GCC Aluminium production constitutes 10% of the total world production and is considered one of the key economic drivers for the Gulf region.

 

 

 

40% of the total production are utilized by the downstream aluminium industries in the Gulf and

 

 

60% exported to different parts of the world.

 

 

GCC remains one of the leading regions for aluminium production with higher environmental standards compared to the rest of the world.

 

 

 

Sohar Aluminium was formed in September 2004 to undertake a landmark Greenfield aluminium smelter project in the Sultanate of Oman, and is jointly owned by Oman Oil Company, Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC - TAQA and Rio Tinto.
