Marking the progress and development of the Omani Aluminium industry and the recognition of its importance to the world, Sohar Aluminium hosted the AP30 Club Conference from 2-4 December 2014 at Crowne Plaza, Muscat. Held for the first time in the Sultanate of Oman, AP30 Club is one of the leading global forums for sharing high technical knowledge and the latest developments in the aluminium reduction process. This forum meets once every 2 to 3 years in one of the countries where AP30 technology smelters operate.
The AP30 Club Conference included numerous high level presentations, giving participants a unique opportunity to exchange views, experiences and improve their knowledge of the technology. It also involved a number of networking activities between professional experts that are developing and operating AP30 technology.
The forum was concluded by a visit to Sohar Aluminium’s smelter during which the delegates visited its major operational units: Reduction, Anode Plant, Casthouse and Central Maintenance.
The AP30 Club members expressed their admiration of the high safety standards at SA through proper implementation of risk mitigation measures like Golden Rules, Life Saving rules, and various health & safety campaigns.
Moreover, they were most impressed by the sense of ownership and enthusiasm among all the employees, who were focused, engaged and showed pride in working at Sohar Aluminium during their various interactions with them.
The success of this conference and the excellent impression of the AP30 Club members about Sohar Aluminium reflects the strides Sultanate of Oman is making as an industrial hub, with particular focus on the aluminium industry, represented by Sohar Aluminium.
